Membership

General Membership

General membership is open to men and women over the age of 18, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religious or political affiliation, age, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation. The primary factors involved in membership are an interest in fraternal revivalist Druidry, a commitment to the ideals of our Order, and the intent to be an active participant.

Once a person becomes an official member through oath or initiation, they remain a member for life unless they ask to be removed from membership or unless they are banned from membership.

3. Grove Membership

Solitary Membership

Individuals may choose solitary membership in the Order either because there is no grove in their area or because they do not wish to belong to a grove.

To obtain solitary membership, you must:

  1. Submit an OSC Membership Application to the OSC High Council. This includes signing the Oath and submitting a personalized statement of intent to join OSC.
  2. Pay any required dues to the OSC High Council.
  3. Undergo the Self-Initiation Meditations within the OSC Guide.
  4. Solitary members are expected to undertake the first Ovate level degree of the self-study program as this provides foundational reference to the Order of the Stone Circle, general Druid concepts, and to revivalist Druidry. There is no requirement for solitary members to progress beyond the Ovate level, though we hope you will do so.

Triad Membership

Triads are essentially groups of at least three members who wish to study the Druid path under the auspices of OSC.  While a Triad is technically three people (hence the name), we will admit Triads of up to six members as a minimum of seven members is required to open a full Grove.  Triad members are welcome to participate in general events of the Order and to undertake any self-study programs we may offer.  Triads are basically small study groups who can also host their own rituals and social events.

To charter a triad, you must:

  1. Submit an OSC Charter Application to the OSC High Council (select Triad for “type of group”).
  2. Submit a membership application for each Triad member. This includes signing the Oath and submitting a personalized statement of intent to join OSC.
  3. Pay any required charter dues to the OSC High Council.
  4. Each Triad member should undergo the Self-Initiation Meditations within the OSC Guide, or the Triad might create its own group initiation and ritual.
  5. A new Triad should create and perform a ritual or ceremony to inaugurate the new Triad. This can be as simple as creating sacred space and having each member share their intent related to the formation of the Triad.
  6. Triad members are expected to undertake the first Ovate level degree of the self-study program as this provides foundational reference to the Order of the Stone Circle, general Druid concepts, and to revivalist Druidry. There is no requirement for solitary members to progress beyond the Ovate level, though we hope you will do so.

Grove Membership

If there is an existing OSC Grove, Circle, or Chapter in your area you may approach them directly for membership.  If there is not a Grove, Circle, or Chapter in your area, you may choose to start one with a minimum of seven charter members.

To obtain membership in a Grove, Circle, or Chapter, you must:

  1. Submit an OSC Membership Application to an existing Grove, Circle, or Chapter. This includes signing the Oath and submitting a personalized statement of intent to join OSC.
  2. Pay any required dues to the local OSC Grove, Circle, or Chapter.
  3. Undergo an initiation into membership.
  4. Grove, Circle, or Chapter members are expected to undertake the first Ovate level degree of the OSC degree program as this provide foundational reference to the Order of the Stone Circle, general Druid concepts, and to revivalist Druidry. There is no requirement for members to progress beyond the Ovate level, though we hope you will do so.
