Start a Grove

Groves, Circles, and Chapters require a minimum of seven charter members to form.  This is because a minimum of seven officers are required to fill ceremonial parts in meetings and rituals of traditional fraternal revivalist groves of our path.

To charter a Grove, you must:

  1. Submit an OSC Charter Application to the OSC High Council.
  2. Submit a membership application for each charter member. This includes signing the Oath and submitting a personalized statement of intent to join OSC.
  3. Pay any required charter dues to the OSC High Council.
  4. Each charter member should undergo the Self-Initiation Meditations within the OSC Guide, or the group might create its own group initiation and ritual.
  5. New groves should choose an initial slate of officers; should install those officers using the appropriate ceremony (outlined within the OSC Guide); and should perform the Institution of a New Grove Ceremony (outlined within the OSC Guide).
  6. Grove members are expected to undertake the first three degrees (Ovate level) of the grove degree program as those provide foundational reference to the Order of the Stone Circle, general Druid concepts, and to revivalist Druidry. There is no requirement for grove members to progress beyond the Ovate level, though we hope you will do so.
