Welcome to the new OSC website

Welcome to the new Order of the Stone Circle website.  This new website is the result of a thorough and meticulous review and revision of OSC structure, procedures, degree programs, and other materials over the past four years.  In the process, we wanted to get back to the roots of our organization while at the same time updating for the 21st century.  As part of the process, we assessed the various ways that members might participate in the Order.  Not everyone has an existing Grove in their area that they might join, so we improved and clarified the ways in which someone might participate and advance degrees regardless of whether they are part of a full Grove, a smaller Triad study group, or as a solitary member.  We have also provided for the creation of “cyber groves” where members may participate in grove meetings and seasonal celebrations online.  It is our hope that these changes will make it easier for both old and new members to participate and to engage in all levels of the Order.

About us

The Order of the Stone Circle (OSC) is a fraternal revivalist druid order with its roots in the revivalist Druid orders and traditions of the 18th century and later. We provide for the formation of full groves, smaller triad study groups, and for solitary members. We offer seasonal rituals and a degree program that takes members through the levels of Ovate, Bard, and Druid.

Druidry for the 21st Century

While we at OSC honor the traditions and practices of Druidry past - including both the ancient Druids and the revivalist Druids from the 18th century onward - we also consider Druidry to be a living spiritual and philosophical system that can change and adapt with the times.

Druidry is a continually evolving path that uses its connection to the ancient past to provide guidance for the future.

At OSC, we week to embrace Druidry for the 21st century by reinterpreting the core values and practices of Druidry through a modern lens.

Some key areas we are adapting include community building, honoring diversity, fostering innovation, and incorporating modern technology.

Building Community

  • Fellowship over Dogma
  • Seasonal Rituals
  • Degree Program
  • Support for full groves, small triad study groups, and solitary members

Honoring Diversity

  • Supporting pluralistic diversity that allows for a variety of grove types
  • Allowing for both traditional single-gender and modern coed groves
  • Allowing for the formation of groves for specific interests and peer groups (such as women’s and LGBTQ+ groves)
  • Honoring our differences while sharing our common ground

Fostering Innovation

  • Reinterpreting ancient Druidic roles for the world today
  • Adapting older rituals and degrees to modern audiences
  • Encouraging creativity and inspiration (Awen)

Incorporating Modern Technology

  • Providing for the formation of Cyber Groves
  • Using online tools to connect and share
  • Using modern technology to enhance learning experiences
